Principle 7 of 8

Patience

Trust the pace of genuine transformation. Roots grow in the dark before fruit appears.

Wounds that formed over years rarely heal in days. Patience is trusting that genuine transformation has its own pace, and that much of it happens out of sight.

There will be times when nothing seems to change, and times when old patterns return. These are not signs of failure; they are part of the path.

Patience is also a form of respect. It allows you, and the people around you, to grow at the rhythm that is true for each.

Reflection

Where are you asking yourself to be further along than you are?

These principles come from From Wound to Wisdom, where they form the foundation for deeper inner work. To see how they fit into the healing process, read about Alberto’s approach to healing emotional trauma.

A gentle note. This work is spiritual and educational in nature. It complements, and does not replace, the care of a licensed mental health professional or medical treatment. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line right away.
